General Discussion / New Updates - Fortune/Feud/TB4
« Last post by JamMachineDJ on April 10, 2018, 12:39:29 PM »
I want to say right off the bat that I love the graphics that came with the new updates.  So much more colorful and vibrant.
I have had some issues with the new updates that we are straightening out and tweaking, so I am hopeful that things will go smoother as we go forward.
I am also glad that the issue with the "A" vowel has been fixed on the fortune board as well. (those who may not know, when the A was not in the puzzle and someone picks it, the board froze and couldn't continue.)
Only thing I do not like is the banner at the top of the screen that says TRIVIA TIME.  In the past, when I adjust the headers in TB4, the changes take effect in the other games as well, but with these new updates, it does not and these banners just don't look good on the Fortune and Feud boards.
A minor quibble is the media play/pause/stop buttons are a little small and in a different order than in the original board and I have to catch myself to make sure I am hitting the correct button now. (also on that note, I am glad we now have the option to continue the sample from the ring in instead of restarting the whole sample.)
Also on TB4, in the status box, it usually says something about game hardware being detected or undetected or something, but with the new update, it been saying 2 things:  "Updating 8" and "Updating 4"...what the heck does this mean?
I can't wait to see TB5!!!!

Hey King,

Any chance you still have this Excel Spreadsheet lying around?  If yes, can you post it?

Game Show Equipment Talk / V Station LE - Feedback Please
« Last post by GameShowGuy.com on August 22, 2017, 07:33:35 AM »
Hi All, I am considering the V-Station LE 4 channel video out system. It's $2700 so it's not an impulse buy for me.

My biggest concern is because I do some high end corporate shows where errors are not allowed, as in pressure is on... do I need a duplicate mirror system? Any users care to share their experience. Unlike a corporate "party" where I might be able to buy a few minutes making some fixes often my events are the "main event" and timing is critical.

Feedback please. AND feedback on overall pros and cons of the system would be super. I realize Tom works hard to provide a good product but unlike the TV shows, as live performers, we don't always get a second chance at hitting a home run. Your thoughts are valued.

I have been using the Extreme cubes since they were launched.
They have been fabulous.  It's great having both type of controllers in one package.  I use the ABCD buttons for the ladder game and the buzzers for the other party games.  The light-up feature really dazzles the players and it makes it easy for them to see who rung in if they are not looking at the screen.
They have been very reliable and have endured many years of use.
The only issue I have ever had has been the occasional wire coming undone inside the units but that only happens if there was an unexpected happenstance and most of the time either you can resolder it yourself or the company can do it for you (they have a great turn-around time).  The last time I had to get a repair done, it took less than a week.  But like, I said they RARELY happen.
I highly recommend the extreme cubes to really enhance a trivia show.  You will not be disappointed.

Game Show Equipment Talk / tm120 buzzers - need some feedback
« Last post by GameShowGuy.com on June 07, 2017, 08:19:08 PM »
Hi guys, I'd love to hear some feedback on the TM120 style buzzers. I'm actually aiming for the extremes that light up and have multiple choice option too. I've some experience with wireless buzzers not working too well  (locking up my pc) and need to know before I spend the dough. I can be called as well - 248-648-1669 . thanks

I think the best approach with "new business" is to speak analytically.

Ask how much the venue generally makes off a patron. Multiply that by the amount of people you'll draw. Subtract your fees.

If you can say "we'll make you $200 every time we run a show," there's no reason for a business owner not to run trivia events.

Dang... pretty good rates you've got going there! Many of the local venues and hustles around me don't have that kind of financial backbone that I can pass on to a crew.

I have always had one assistant and on a few shows I would have 2.

My show structure is to completely focus on being the host.  I don't handle ANY of the computer software while I am on stage.  I press no buttons, load no quizzes or turn on any buzzers.

It seems I am unique in my approach in having an assistant, however I incorporate the cost of having an assistant into the price I charge.

I have expanded my territory to include several major cities within 200kms of Montreal (My base of operations) and I am recruiting students that will work for lite easy money.

But, I always pay my main tech well!  200.00 per show plus a split of the tips.
